Kenneth L. Roemke, 78, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012. Born in Ft. Wayne, Ken was a Korean War Veteran and had been a steamfitter with Local Union 166 for 42 years, retiring in 1994 and at D.O. McCombs for 11 years. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church; American Legion Post 82; Commander of the Korean War Veterans Association Indiana Chapter #1; and past Secretary and Treasurer of Local Union 166. Ken also had been a foster parent to 125 children. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anna; son, Kevin (Marita) Roemke of Ft. Wayne; daughters, Denise Lucas of Wakarusa, IN and Laura (Jim) Smith of Wilmington, NC; 14 grandchildren; nine and a half great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann in 1983; parents, Walter and Louella Roemke; son, Scott Roemke; daughter, Diane Brown; and brother, Don Roemke. Funeral service is 10 am Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8811 St Joe Road with calling one hour prior. Rev. John Stube officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
