L. LEONARD GAULDIN
L. Leonard Gauldin, 64, of Prosperity, entered into eternity on Friday, October 21, 2011.
Born May 25, 1947 at Princewick to the late Wyatt Raleigh Gauldin and Edna Elaine Cox Gauldin.
Mr. Gauldin was a talented writer and author of an unpublished book, "Bitter Fruit." He loved communicating with family and old friends, playing keno, blackjack, yatzee, working in his yard, gardening, cooking, enjoyed playing the piano, studying his Bible, and had a wonderful love for his grandchildren. His church family was the former Prosperity Church of Christ in Christian Union.
He was a 1965 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and received his Associate Bachelors Degree in both Journalism and Business from Beckley College and attended WVU Tech. Mr. Gauldin was a reporter and editor for Beckley Newspaper/Post Herald, Beckley, a representative for Congressman Ken Heckler in the 1970's, worked as a loan officer at the Bank of Mt. Hope. He then was a comptroller and CEO of a local health care facility for 15 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Gauldin and Mickey Gauldin; three sisters, Arlene Wyatt, Marie Carter, and Mabel Honaker; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Elizabeth Moore Callaway, who was one of his dearest friends; and his father-in-law, Harry Mayo Callaway.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of nearly 45 years, Alice Gauldin; a son, Matthew Callaway Gauldin and wife, Ashley of Braxton County; daughter, Jaimee Len Gauldin of Prosperity; grandsons, Mason Clark Gauldin of PA, Devan Nathaniel Gauldin and Aaron Jacoby Gauldin of Prosperity; granddaughters, Lexie Lynn Dale Whitesel and Phoenix Elizabeth Gauldin both of Braxton County; brothers and sisters, Mildred Miller of Ohio, Mary Deal of Nicholas County, Margaret Meadows of Florida, and Wyatt Raleigh Gauldin, Jr. of Ohio; two special friends who where his pastors, Rev. Don and Francis Sparks and Rev. Gerald and Ann Kelly; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends that he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Mr. Gauldin's life will be held 7:00PM Monday, October 24, 2011 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Damon Hamby officiating.
Friends may gather with the family from 6:00PM until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
