LAVERGNE CHAGNARD THOMAS LaVergne Thomas, age 89, passed away on March 24, 2011 in Vancouver. She was born on March 31, 1921 in Louisville, KY and had been a Vancouver resident for the past 22 years. LaVergne was a retired registered nurse who had served during WWII as a flight nurse. She was a member of the American Legion Post 583 in Center Point, TX; the WW Flight Nurses Assoc. and the 437th Troop Carrier Group Assoc. Mrs. Thomas was also a member of the Camas United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1979. Survivors include her daughter, Dana (Gary) Ostenson of Vancouver; son, Gregg Thomas of San Jose, CA; sister, Jacquelyn Comfort of Los Altos, CA; four grandchildren, Erica Ostenson, Kyle Ostenson, Patricia Thomas and James Thomas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Camas United Methodist Church. Burial will be private at the Camas Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations can be given to the Camas United Methodist Church @ 706 NE 14th Ave., Camas, WA 98607.
