LaVonne Bliefnick, 89 of Hillsdale, MI passed away at Village Green Assisted Living On October 19, 2013.
A private family service to celebrate LaVonne's life was held on October 26th 2013. She was laid to rest next to her husbands Marion Lindamood and Arby McVitty in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Salem Mennonite Church, 13751 Tripp Road, Waldron, MI 49288. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.
LaVonne was born May 22, 1924 in Lintner, IL the daughter of Merlin and Anna (Traxler) Horton. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker. In her youth she was active in sports, cheerleading and enjoyed running. After graduating from high school LaVonne was awarded a four year scholarship to the University of Illinois to study Home Economics, but in her own kind way, she declined this opportunity, choosing rather to stay at home to assist her mother. She loved to sew. LaVonne first married Marion Lindamood in December of 1943. He preceded her in death in 1959. She then married Arby McVitty in April of 1975. He preceded her in death November of 1987. She later married Arlin Bliefnick in January of 1996. He preceded her in death in July of 2008. During her life she had many blessings and was able to travel the world extensively. She worked for a brief time as a dental assistant, a bank teller and loved to help her husband on the farm. She also enjoyed playing the piano.
Surviving is her daughter: Jane Madaus Bradley and her husband Richard of Hillsdale, MI; grandchildren: Lt. Col. Mark Madaus and his wife Kirsten currently serving with the US Air Force, Jay Madaus of San Francisco, CA, Amy Phillips of Canton, MI and Lori Madaus of Polson, MT; great-grandchildren: Erik Madaus, Emma Madaus, Haley Phillips, and Devin Phillips.
LaVonne was preceded in death by parents, three husbands, and her youngest daughter: Alice Henry.
