Beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Lael Larue Mitchell, age 75 of Santaquin, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 24, 2012.

She was born August 4, 1936 in Santaquin, Utah to Arvil and Larue Johnson Houghton. She married S. Robert Mitchell in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 40 years. Robert passed away September 9, 1989.

Lael loved being being a Mom and Grandma. She enjoyed serving as a Pink Lady at Mtn. View Hospital and serving at the Santaquin Seniors Center. She was a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in numerous callings including Relief Society President and served as a missionary in St. George. She was a great example and influence to her family.

Survivors include: her children, Alan (Deana) Mitchell, Price; Julie Ann (Casey) Vick, Santaquin; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Dennis (Gaylynn) Houghton, St. George; Louise (Kay) Tischner, Santaquin and a nephew, Gary (Gwen) Pascoe of St. George. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronny Houghton.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 28, 2012, 1:00 p.m., in the Santaquin 1st Ward, 545 North 200 East, where friends may call Friday evening, 6-8:00 p.m. and again Saturday, 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Santaquin City Cemtery under the direction of Walker Mortuary in Payson.
