JANESVILLE-Larry Dean Cain, age 58, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Waterloo, IA on June 11, 1951, the son of Lawrence and Phyllis (Arnaman) Cain. He graduated from Waterloo West in 1969 and the University of Northern Iowa in 1975. Larry moved to Janesville in 1986, and had been employed by the Janesville School District since 1991. He married Karen Koster on May 24, 1975, in Stacyville, IA, and was a Physical Education Teacher for Van Buren Elementary School. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the Wisconsin Association for Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance, where he was honored as Teacher of the Year at both the State and Midwest Levels, and active in the JEA. He loved to travel, enjoyed watching Brian playing football in High School and College and watching him coach. Larry loved teaching elementary children and going to work each day in a job that he loved. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears and enjoyed playing golf. Larry is survived by his wife, Karen Cain of Janesville; son, Brian (Elise) Cain of Springfield, MA; father, Lawrence (Shirley) Cain of Waterloo, IA; mother, Phyllis (Bill) Fernau of Kansas City, MO; 1 brother, Dennis (Tammy) Cain of Sumner, IA; father-in-law, Edgar Koster of Auburn, IA; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. Randy Timmerman officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
