Larry Parker, 72, of Parkville, MO passed away Jan. 12, 2012 at the home.
Larry was born May 29, 1939 in Emporia, KS to Richard and Helen Parker. Larry grew up in Wichita, KS, graduated from Valley Center High School and attended Wichita State University. Larry was a veteran of the US Air Force and National Guard. After honorable discharge, he moved to Little Rock, AR in 1960. There he met his future bride, Mary and they were married Nov. 2, 1963. Mary and Larry made their home in the Parkville area in 1972 where they raised their 4 children. Larry was a member of HOGG, the Northland Senior Golf, a 3rd Degree Master Mason, and in 2010 Larry turned his passion to the family farm back in Kansas.
Larry is preceded in death by his father and his grandson, Adam Parker Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, 2 daughters, Teri (Kevin) Mikulich of Platte City, MO and Penny Thompson of KC, MO; 2 sons, Tom (Christie) Parker of Plano, TX and Alex (Amy) Parker of McKinney, TX; his mother, Helen of Wichita, KS; Larry's greatest pride and joy were his 9 grandchildren, Jessica, Seth, Emily, Elizabeth, Luke, Katherine, Abby, Avery, Jackson; and 1 great grandson, Waylon; his extended family included 2 brother and sister in laws, Gary (Sharon) Kell and Dan (Pam) Kell, and 5 nieces and nephews.
Services are set for 10:30 AM Monday Jan 16, 2012 at Harmony Vineyard Church 600 NE 46th St KC, MO 64116. The Family will receive friends from 9-10:30 AM Monday at the church. Burial to follow at Arvonia Cemetery, Arvonia, KS. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to The University of Kansas Cancer Center 2330 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Westwood, KS 66205.
