LaRUE, LARRY G., 69 of Montverde, FL passed away September 3, 2011 after a 4 ½ year battle with cancer. Larry and his wife, Beverly were married Jan. 3, 1977. They began their lives together with a family of six children, their combined family consisted of Deborah W. Carter, Ronnie W. LaRue, John M. Whittaker III, Larry G. LaRue, Jr., Thomas M. Whittaker and Twinkle Shiplett. Eight years later they added their beloved son Justin T. LaRue who preceded his father in death on Feb. 23, 2011.
Larry's career span of 48 years in the steel industry began in the year 1959. He was a pioneer in his field, modernizing and managing production plants in FL, GA and TN. He was part-owner of FL Welding and Erection Co. He also wrote a production manual on quality control in the late 70's which are still in use to this day. Larry was Vice President of Production with Addison Steel from 1983 to 1997, he continued his career with Schuff Steel until his retirement in Dec. 2007. Larry was known throughout the structural steel communities such as Pittsburgh Steel, US Steel, Bethany Steel, Inland Steel and many more. In the State of FL he managed and was a leader in constructing projects such as Disney MGM, Universal Studios and Epcot. Larry's favorite hobby outside of his career and family were restoring antique cars and vintage tractors. Several of his cars are now in car museums. Larry is survived by his beloved wife Beverly S. LaRue; brother, James O. LaRue, Jr.; sister Carolyn Northern. He leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 3 deceased grandchildren. A Memorial and Celebration of Larry's life will be held Wed., September 7 at 1 p.m. at the West Altamonte Chapel of the Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 90 Weathersfield Ave., Altamonte springs, FL 32714. Visitation for friends will be Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
