Larry Glick
Former late-night Boston radio talk show host
BOSTON - Larry Glick, whose late-night talk show from Boston made listeners laugh from coast to coast, died Thursday. He was 87.
According to WBZ-AM, where Glick spent nearly 20 years, he died in Florida of complications from heart surgery.
The station's powerful signal reached 38 states and parts of Canada after dark, creating legions of "Glicknics" who tuned in nightly to hear his unpredictable and often zany antics.
Former WBZ personality and current "Dancing with the Stars" host Tom Bergeron called Glick a "mentor," and told the station that his fondest memories of radio were the hours he spent on the airwaves with Glick.
After moving to WHDH in 1988, Glick retired in 1992. In recent years he worked as a greeter at a Legal Sea Foods in Boca Raton, Fla.
