Lauren "Laurie" Frieberg Reichel, 59, of Marquette, died Tuesday morning, at her home. She was born January 23, 1952 in Marquette, a daughter of Norman W. Frieberg and Joan C. McNerney. She attended and was a 1970 graduate of Marquette High School. In 1992 Laurie moved to Nashville, TN where she wrote country music and was employed at the Ozburn-Hessey Moving & Storage Company. In 1998 she moved to Gwinn. Laurie was a member of the Little Lake American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #349. She loved music, gardening, baking, family picnics, swimming (if there were no bugs) and spending time with her granddaughter, Joanie. She was also known to be an obsessive cleaner. She is survived by her daughter, Amy (Carlo Vignaroli) Rooks of Gwinn; mother, Joan Fontaine of Marquette; granddaughter, Joanie Rooks of Gwinn; siblings, Alan D. Frieberg of Republic, Kerry (Jim) Bonovich of Ishpeming and Gwyn (Maurice Richardson) Fontaine of Gwinn; son-in-law, Robert Rooks of Ohio; nieces & nephews, Josh (Angela) Salmi, Breanna (Arnold) Murray, Sarah (Jason) Carr, Christopher (Jayda Mujo) Ward, Jordan and Jacob Fontaine; great-nieces and nephews, Madison, Andrew, Kalynn, Taylor and Tyson; and best friends, Maxine Wirtenen and Jean Christian. Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Norman Frieberg. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Laurie's family. Laurie's obituary may also be viewed at www.canalefuneral.com where memories can be shared.
