February 27, 1931 - April 21, 2011
Lawanda Gatewood Crawford 80, of Huntsville passed away Thursday following a long illness of Alzheimer’s. She was born in Greenway, Arkansas February 27, 1931 to the late V.O. and Lucille Gatewood. She was the loving Wife of Arthur Crawford and Mother of 4 Children. She is survived by her husband Arthur Crawford of 58 years, 2 sons Gary and Robert Crawford and 2 daughters Patricia Colwell and Janet Faustmann, all of Huntsville. 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. 4 brothers, Bill Gatewood of Ottawa,KS, Dwayne Gatewood of Piedmont, Mo, Don Gatewood of Ada, OK and Danny Gatewood of Forrest, MS. and her step-mother Helen Mowery of Piggott, Arkansas. She suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. She has been a resident of Huntsville since 1969 and a member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will greatly missed by her husband, family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 pm until 8 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 am at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holmes Street United Methodist Church building fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
