Lawrence F. Burleigh, Sr., 91, of the 1600 block of Cougar Ave., Norfolk, VA, died Feb. 4, 2012, in a Richmond hospital. He was born in Newport News, VA and was the son of the late Lawrence and Bertha Burleigh. Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Lucielle T. Burleigh. Lawrence is survived by two sons, Lawrence Burleigh, Jr. and wife Sherry of Midlothian, VA and Richard G. Burleigh of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Dorothy Jackson of Lakeland, FL; and two grandchildren, Jonathan T. Burleigh and Elizabeth I. Burleigh, both of Midlothian, VA. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial with military honors will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
