Lawrence Fredrick (Fred) Hammonds, passed away peacefully with his family by his side October 23, 2010. He was born January 22, 1927, in Macon, GA, to the late John L Sullivan and Ella Hammonds. His loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Mary L. Hammonds; and his brother, J T Hammonds also precedes him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Larry Hammonds and his wife Vicky Ulvestad of Prairie Lake MN, Patricia Hammer and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA, and Mitchell Hammonds and wife Lynnette of Virginia Beach, VA; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; as well as his extended family, friends and neighbors. Fred was a retired Navy Chief who served with Honor and received many Commendations in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. He also retired from the US Postal Service. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Entombment with military honors will be held at Princess Anne Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. Arrangements are under the care of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
