Middleboro-Mass- Lawrence J. Tummino, of 65 Summer Street in Middleboro, formerly of Brattleboro, Vermont and Johnstown, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, February 2, 2012 at the Raynham Lifecare Center following a battle with Alzheimer's' disease. Mr. Tummino was born in Johnstown on August 3, 1922, the son of Calegero and Virginia (Speranza) Tummino, the third of four children. He was raised and educated in Johnstown graduating from Johnstown High School later taking business courses at Alliance College. He married his wife of 68 years, Margaret L. Castagnola on December 25, 1943 in Uvalde, Texas where he was serving in the US Army Air Corps. Mr. Tummino worked for John Hancock Life Insurance Company as a sales agent for 38 years servicing customers in the Franklin and Conemaugh area of greater Johnstown. Over the years he won several awards for his outstanding salesmanship. Mr. Tummino was a longtime member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks and was an active parishioner at St. Benedicts Church in Geistown, Pennsylvania. Besides his faithful and loving wife he is survived by his son Larry Tummino and his wife Patricia, daughter in law Linda Tummino and his brother Samuel. Additionally he leaves his beloved grandchildren: Mitra, Annie, Alana, Joseph and Benjamin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Charles, and his siblings, Joseph, Philip, Louis, Mary and Jack. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church on Walnut Street in Brattleboro with the Very Rev. Richard O'Donnell, pastor, celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions in Mr. Tummino's name may be made to the Alzheimer's' Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7'th floor, New York, N.Y. 10001.
