Lawrence James Brown was born on April 3,1934 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and passed away on March 15, 2011 at home in Reedsport, OR. He was preceded in death by his Father, Charles Brown, and Mother, Helen Doris Thurber, and a brother, Thomas Charles Brown. He is survived by his wife and sweetheart Sandra Sue Eddy Brown, Sisters Beverly (John) Udarbe, Charlene (Jay) Pierce, and sister-in-law, Judy Brown. He also is survived by six children.... Lloyd Brown, Kimberley (Mike) Melville, Steven (Marci) Brown, Robert (Kerri) Brown, Amy (Al) Frank, and Michael Henry, sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews.

Larry grew up on a family farm, which also included a dairy and a soft drink plant. He learned to work at a very early age in all three phases of the family business.... farm... dairy... and beverage plant. At the age of 16 he worked as a sheet metal apprentice where he learned several skills which served him well over the years. His most enjoyable work years were in his early 20’s when he joined the Ontario Provincial Police where he served for 3 years. His occupation for the next 28 years was in the insurance business, primarily as a Fire, Casualty and Workers Compensation Loss Control Representative... most of that time as a Department Manger.

Larry loved the outdoors, camping and travel. He looked forward to taking his family camping at lakes, hiking in the mountains and trips to new places.

He and Sandy retired to Reedsport, Oregon in 1994 where he served as Bishop of the LDS Church for a period of six years. Larry will be remembered most for his willingness to serve others. He was always available for friends and neighbors in need.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church in Reedsport on Saturday, March 19, 2011, with internment at Mountain View Memorial Estates in Salt Lake City, Utah on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
