Mr. Lee Edward "Ed" Rogers, age 74, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening, September 18, 2012 at the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia. Ed was born June 3, 1938 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Carlton and Gladys Evans Rogers. He was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewell and Carl Bramblett, Macille and Granville Smith, Hazel and George Crump and Betty Rogers.
Ed was retired from Shaw Industries and after his retirement he worked at the Spring Place Elementary School.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Houston Rogers of the residence and would have celebrated their thirty-eighth wedding anniversary, October 11, 2012; daughters and son-in-law, Kimberley Rogers-Thomison, Teresa and Mitch Sanford; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Debbie Rogers; grandchildren, Brandon Ragan, Bella Thomison, Jennifer Dawn Rogers, Jennifer Ann LaRose, Morgan Sanford and Mallory Sanford; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.L. and Jean Rogers, Jimmy and Shannon Rogers; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Lee Edward "Ed" Rogers will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with his nephew, Reverend Charles Rogers and Reverend Tony Abernathy officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with J.C. Rogers, Brandon Regan, Josh Vanlandingham, Matthew Smith, Matt Stacotta and Cody Fugate serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 6:00 p.m. Friday and after 12:00 noon until the service hour Saturday.
