A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Lee (Conceso) Lugtu Manansala was born on April 8, 1921 in San Nicolas, Masantol in Pampanga, Philippines. He was one of 7 children. He joined the Philippine Army at age 22 and served alongside the US Army as a Philippine Scout during World War II. During his enlistment, he participated in the Bataan Death March. He completed this enlistment and eventually met and married his wife Aurora.

They had three children Perlita, Joseph and Arnel. After deciding he would make a new life in America for himself and his family, he came to San Francisco, California in 1968 as a tourist. His goal was to fight for the right to US citizenship, which was promised to him and to the other Philippine Scouts at the end of the War. He received US citizenship in 1977. He made a life in the US at first working odd jobs as a dishwasher until he found a job at Legallet Tanning Company in Hunter's Point. Finally with the closing of the tanning company, he found a job at Ito Cariani Sausage Company in the Bayview District where he worked happily until he retired at age 65.

During his long, fulfilling life he was immensely close and loving to his family, especially his seven grandchildren: Pamela, Patricia, Jonielyn, Elaine, Lee Dominic, Dino and Alyssa. He played an integral role in our daily lives as the patriarch of our family. As such, he tirelessly strived to love and to provide for his wife, children and grandchildren. It is because of this that we his family and friends express our deepest gratitude and respect. It is because of this that we honor and celebrate his life.
