Leo "Pop-Pop" Francis May, 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Raritan Health and Extended Care in Raritan. Born in Toledo, Ohio and a former resident of Roselle, Leo resided in Branchburg for the past 50 years. Mr. May proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. May worked as a Machinist for American Can Company in Hillside for 33 years, until retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Raritan and a member of Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post 2290 in Manville. Leo was preceded in death by eleven siblings. Leo leaves behind his wife, Ruth Manrodt May; two sons, John and wife, Mary Jean of Bridgewater and Leo of Branchburg; his three grandchildren, Jesse and wife, Melissa, Nancy, and Eric; and his four great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jonathan, Thomas, and Nicholas. Our beloved Pop-Pop will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will begin at 8:45 AM with a prayer on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638 followed by 9:30 AM Services at St. Joseph Church, 16 East Somerset Street, Raritan. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale. Viewing hours are Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 1 to 4 PM at the funeral home.
