Leo John Griffin Sr. born March 13, 1933, passed away on June 29, 2012. He will join in Heaven with his father, John Raymond Griffin, his mother, Dorothy Mae (Yates) Malloy, his children, Harvey Lloyd, Leo John Jr., Glenn Ethan, Sonya Kay, and Lisa Elizabeth. He is survived by his beloved wife Lavern, his children- Dorthy Harp (Bruce), Sebastian, Dianne Strong (Keith) and Johnny; his10 grandchildren Barbara, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Amber, Amanda, Alex, Brandon, Breanna, Glen Ethan Jr., and Garrett and 9 great grandchildren Dominic, Azra, Hailee, Lisa, Ashley, Robert, Logan, Aaron, and T.J. ; his sisters, Irene (Fred) Newton, Joan Marriot, Bette (Bub) Austin, Brenda (Ray) Krans, and Brothers Raymond (Betty) Griffin, and Bob(Leslie) LaChance.
Leo, along with his wife Lavern, also provided a loving home for more than 35 foster children. Two of these they adopted with love and many who stayed and always will be a part of this family. He was also key in the establishment of Jacob's Place Homeless Misssion in Searcy. Throughout his years he worked with hospice, Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude's, and various camps for children with cancer.
His legacy of love and his charitable spirit will live on through though of us who were blessed to have known him.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gateway Baptist Church of Judsonia.
