Leonard F. Vrabel, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Born in Madera, PA, Leonard retired as an electronics technician with Bell Aerospace after 30 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 47 and was a part-time driver for the American Red Cross for 5 years. An Army Air Forces WWII Veteran he served in the European Theater of Operations from 1942-1945 with the 1371st Signal Company Wing, attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Michigan State University fan. Surviving are his son, William (Jean) Vrabel of Fort Wayne, grand daughters, Mary Beth Vrabel and Carrie Ann Vrabel and step grand daughter, Nicole Childre of Lexington, KY. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Vrabel and sister, Margaret Brooks. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling 1 hour prior. Calling also Friday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
