Leonard was born the son of Paul Joseph Latcham and Anna Luella Figland Latcham on June 14, 1927, in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1945.
Leonard was united in marriage to Elizabeth Rose Thon on June 22, 1947, at the Congregational Church in Grinnell. To this union were born their children Scott and Lenna. The couple resided in Grinnell all of their lives and Leonard was a farmer and later was a carpenter.
Leonard was an avid hunter and fisherman who took hunting and fishing trips to Montana and Canada. He loved to work with his hands and was an excellent carpenter. His other enjoyments were tending to his rose garden, dancing, and playing cards with his family and friends.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Latcham of Grinnell; his children, Scott Latcham, and Lenna (John) Booth of rural Grinnell; his grandchildren, Chelsi and Tyler Booth of Grinnell; his sister, Louise (Bob) Wilkins of Grinnell; his brother, Laverne (Sheila) Latcham of Grinnell; and several nieces and nephews. Leonard died Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell. He was 81 years of age and was preceded in death by his parents.
