Leora H Metz, 82 of Salt Lake City, Utah was called home to Heaven on May 11, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born on July 4, 1928 in Neola, Utah to Victor and Bessie Horrocks. She grew up in the Uinta Basin and attended Roosevelt High School. She was a member of the LDS Church. She worked in housekeeping for many years before going to work for Eimco as a sewing machine operator until her retirement. She loved to play board games and enjoyed doing her jig-saw puzzles. She enjoyed country music and old westerns on TV. She always had a pot of coffee on and a refrigerator full of food for all the family and friends who visited. Her door was always open and she enjoyed a lot of company.
She is survived by one sister, Fay Forakis ((Irey), one brother Calvin Horrocks (Bonnie), one son Thomas Peterson (Aydell), daughters, Sherrie Reynolds (Steve), Connie Connelly (Dennis) and Yolanda Yourston (Eric), 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands Joseph Petersen and Gordon Metz, her parents Victor and Bessie Horrocks, brothers Floyd Horrocks, and Roger Horrocks, granddaughter Patsy Peterson and a special nephew Floyd Victor Horrocks.
