Leslie Bryant Alford, 51, joined Heaven's Choir Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012 at a Houston hospital. Leslie was born on January 25th, 1961 in Baytown, Texas to David and Linda Bryant of Baytown. Leslie was a strong and Godly gentle woman of courage that loved music and singing praises to our Lord. Leslie loved her time in the Famous Robert E. Lee Marching Band and then receiving her Bachelor's in Psychology from Texas A&M, University, Magna Cum Laude. Leslie worked while attending college while she finished her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Houston at Clear Lake. She married David Alford of Baytown in 1985, and they were about to celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary this August. Leslie's love extended to everyone and she thoroughly enjoyed her years of service to others as a Big Sister in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization. Leslie received a great deal of pleasure in serving people as a Social Worker at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital for 17 ½ years. Her love for music flowed to others as she taught piano to children at the First Baptist Church Arts Academy. Leslie served tirelessly as a member of First Baptist Church Baytown for many years by singing in the choir and ringing handbells at every opportunity, and taught Sunday School, Master Life, and other Bible studies on many occasions. Leslie was a founding primary volunteer and coordinator for the annual FBC Christmas Store that works with Baytown's Love INC and ministers to struggling families in Baytown at Christmas. Second only to her love for Jesus was her passion and devotion to her greatest love of being a mother to Samuel. Loving and raising him in a Godly home and seeing him accept Jesus as his Savior warmed her heart so, and seeing him grow into the Christian man he is brought her such pride and comfort and contentment. Leslie's Christian and sacrificial love for others continues even after her death as she was a tissue donor to LifeGift and will help 70 people or more suffering from burns and other injuries. Leslie lived life to the fullest and gave God all the Glory for allowing her to serve Him. She never let the cystic fibrosis be an excuse to hold her back from serving others and enjoying God's creation as she visited the Grand Canyon, Redwood Forests and other wonders of His creation, and even flew in a hot air balloon that had to land on a residential street. Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 505 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521 with Rev. Bill Yowell officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Leslie's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at http://www.cff.org/GetInvolved/ManyWaysToGive/MakeADonation , Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, Maryland, 20814, (800) FIGHT CF, or PUSH America (Assists people with disabilities) https://secure3.convio.net/ipush/site/Donation2?idb=466867209&df_id=1860&FR_ID=1130&1860.donation=form1&PROXY_ID=1048450&PROXY_TYPE=20 , Iota Zeta Chapter, Push America c/o Stephen F.
