Funeral services for Leslie Hugh Whitaker, 85, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point with Rev. Don Tisdale and Rev. Matt Ward officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point. He passed away Sunday night, January 20, 2013, in Wills Point. Hugh was born December 27, 1927, in Hamilton, Texas, the son of Wiggs Jenkins Whitaker and Carl Massengill Whitaker. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Hugh was a foreman for Buckner Construction Company in Cleburne and retired from A.K. Gillis Construction Company in Sulphur Springs. He was married to Rose Haynes for the past sixty-two years. He loved animals and enjoyed gardening and raising goats. Hugh moved to Wills Point forty-six years ago and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, J.D. Whitaker; three sisters, Maryleen Dansby, Inez Adams and Maudie Lively; daughter-in-law, Cassie Whitaker and a granddaughter, Amee Gail Adams. Hugh is survived by his wife, Rose Whitaker, of Wills Point; two sons, Les Whitaker, of Wills Point and Carl Whitaker & wife, Celia, of Edgewood; two daughters, Jeannie Nation & husband, Ronnie, of Edgewood and Debra Ward & husband, Phillip, of Wills Point; sister, Dean Hamilton, of Duffua; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
