Dr. Lewis G. Pugh, formerly of Cadiz, Ohio died early Thursday morning at the age of 88. Dr. Pugh had been living with his son and daughter-in-law in the Antrim area since 2006. He was born to William and Ophelia Plummer Pugh in Roanoke County, Virginia. Dr. Pugh was a retired optometrist who practiced and retired in the Cadiz community. He was a veteran of WW II, a member of the Cadiz Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and had served on the Pulpit Committee. He was a member of the Cadiz Lions Club, and the Cadiz American Legion. In years past, he had served on the Cadiz Village Council and coached Little League. He was also an Ohio State University Alumnus. Dr. Pugh was preceded in death by his wife of nearly sixty years, Fern Mills Pugh in 2006 and by two brothers, Bill and Harold Pugh. He is survived by his son, William (Vicki) Pugh of Quaker City; two grandsons, Lewie (Gina) Pugh of Tippecanoe and Ray Pugh of Woodford, VA; two half-sisters, Jean Pugh of Sarasota, FL and Janet Burcham of Lexington, KY. Friends may call Monday, July 28, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Cadiz Presbyterian Church, 154 W. Market St., Cadiz. The family would like to invite anyone wishing to speak at the funeral to feel free to do so. The family also respectfully requests you to consider donations in Lewis's name to Guernsey County Hospice, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, OH 43725 in lieu of flowers. Burial will be in Cadiz Union Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Cadiz American Legion. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com
