Leyvonne Alston Smith, 60, of the 3200 block of Eight State Way, Chesapeake, VA, passed away December 24, 2011, in her home. A native of Charleston, SC, she was a 1st grade teacher at Brighton Elementary School in Portsmouth, VA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Robert E. Smith; two daughters, Robin K. Smith of Chesapeake, VA and Adrienne Bracy and husband Sean of Norfolk, VA; her parents, Leon and Evelyn Alston of Charleston, SC; four sisters, Onetha Gilliard-Lovett (Bennie) of Miami, FL, Connie Gilliard (Benjamin) of Miami, FL, Cynthia Alston of Charleston, SC and Kendra Middleton (Reginald) of Charleston, SC; three brothers, Leon Alston, Jr. (Renee) of Miami, FL, Sheloid Alston(Shirley) and George Alston, Sr. (Denise), both of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Alayah, Akai and Sean II; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Sheila Holman; and a granddaughter, Arrin Bracy. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Smith will be sent to Fielding Funeral Home in Charleston, SC for services and burial.
