Funeral services for Lillian Ruth Riske, 85, of Caldwell, are set for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Dime Box Brethren Church, with Rev. Jim Heckman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery also in Dime Box. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 13th, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home and also Thursday, April 14th from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Mrs. Riske passed away April 12, 2011 at St. Josephs Regional Health Center in Bryan. Pallbearers will be Dean Loehr, Gordon Lehmann, Edward Dean Odstrcil, Larry Odstrcil, Clifton Marek, and Brandon Odstrcil. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Dickerson, James Petroski, Tommy Jatzlau, Sonky Jatzlau, and Thomas Sharp. Lillian was born June 27, 1925 to Henry Polasek and Cornellia Marek in Dime Box, Texas. She married Frank Riske on March 26, 1951. She worked at Fairmont Creameries and owned Riskes Dry Goods Store. Lillian loved spending time in the yard working with her flowers and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and loved beautiful scenery. Lillian is survived by aunt; Ann Marek and her husband Clarence Chernosky, sisters-in-law; Frorice & Jerry Vavra, Maxine Meyer, Ruby Sharp, cousins; Dorothy Ann & Junior Moerbe, Pat & Neil Ahrendt, Judy & Mike Westbrook, Sherry & Gordon Lehmann, Edward & Milady Odstrcil, Lydia Odstrcil, Edward Dean & Jackie Odstrcil, Bill & Deborah Dickerson, Larry Odstrcil, Sharon Chmelar and husband, Mitzy & Stanley Tubbs, Clifton & Cathy Marek, Bobby Mikulin, nephew; Thomas Sharp, niece: Carol Thacker, and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, aunts; Millie Mikulin, Albina Mikulin, Julia Proske, Vincka Juroska, Lydia Peters, uncles; Vince Marek, Jr., Joe Marek, cousins; Johnny Proske, Jimmy Marek, and numerous other cousins. The family requests memorials be made to the Dime Box Brethren Church, 8361 FM 141, Dime Box, Texas 77853, the Cooks Point Volunteer Fire Department, 300 FM 1362 South, Caldwell, Texas 77836, and also the Dime Box Volunteer Fire Department.
