“Jimmy and Debbie, You are in my thoughts and prayers. Sonya Murrell ”
49 of 49 | Posted by: Sonya Murrell - Hinton, WV

On October 6, 2008, Lindsay Rebekah Haun, 26 years of age, of 172 Sassafras Lane, Princeton passed into the glorious presence of her Lord. She left this earthly life with the same faith and grace with which she lived. Lindsay was born on March 20, 1982 in Princeton. An avid seeker of knowledge, Lindsay received her bachelors degree in elementary education from Concord University and completed her masters degree in education leadership, also at Concord. Pulling from her many talents, she was employed by the Mercer County Schools first as a long term music teacher, then as a kindergarten teacher, and most recently, as a technology integration specialist. Always one to embrace a challenge, as well as people, Lindsay enjoyed assisting teacher incorporating technology into their lessons in order to better benefit the students she so dearly loved. Lindsay was preceded in death by her beloved maternal grandfather, Titus Andrew Cox, and her Aunt Lizzy, Elizabeth Haun. She is survived and cherished by her parents, Jimmy & Debbie Haun, and grandparents, Emma Sue Cox of Bluefield, VA, Rita N. Haun of Bluefield, and Jim & Gloria Haun of Princeton. She is also survived by the love of her life, her faithful fianc, Derrick Shumate of Lewisburg and his parents, Keith and Debbie Shumate of Glenfork. Aunts and uncles who played such an important role in Lindsays life include Ty and Dedra Cox of Bluefield, VA, Louann and Harrell Erwin of Bristol, VA; Paul Cox of Bluefield, VA; Carl Haun of Winter Haven, FL; Teresa and Gary Battestin of Endicott, NY; Rene and Gary Wingate of Anchorage, Alaska; and Tracy and Mary Burks of Princeton. Because of continued support, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, Lindsay referred to them as keepers. Other loved ones include many cousins and friends whom Lindsay held so close to her heart. One special friend was her Poffer, Linda Poff of Bluewell. Visitation will take place at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road, Princeton, Wednesday, October 8, 2008, from 5:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. A service to honor Lindsays life on this earth and especially to celebrate her homecoming with our precious Lord will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008, at 1:00 P.M. also at the Memorial Funeral Directory in Princeton. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA where Lindsay will be laid to rest near her PaPaw Cox who preceded her in death by two weeks on Monday, September 22, 2008. We are assured that the two are now basking in all the glory of God and His heaven, able to use their God-given talents untiringly, singing His praises which they both did continuously on this earth, often together and daily individually. Lindsays memorial will be led by her friend and personal pastor, Pastor James Wiley of Port St. Joe, Fl. Pallbearers will be Gabriel Cox, Lindsays cousin, of Bluefield, VA, Josh Spencer of Christiansburg, VA, Joshuah Bishop of Princeton, Dustin Allen of Princeton, Matthew Russell of Franklin, TN, and Dusty Harman of Martinsburg. Lindsay had many wonderful friends whom she cherished and who made up such a large part of who Lindsay was. In honor of her love for them, honorary pallbearers will be Meagan King of Roanoke, VA, Sarah Schumacher of Princeton, Baseeret Russell of Franklin, TN, Whitney Erwin, Lindsays cousin, of Bristol, VA, Katie Froemel of Martinsburg, Jenny Harman of Martinsburg, and Amanda Hatfield of Thomasville, NC. As a tribute to Lindsays talents and her love for the arts, the family request that donations be made in her honor to the Chuck Mathena Center or to the Chuck Mathena Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 5664, Princeton, WV 24740 of which she was a recipient and so generously blessed. Remembrances of Lindsay may be posted online at www.memorialfd.com Lindsay lived her life in an effort to be a testimony of Gods grace and as an extension of His love toward people. In her words as she would quote Gods Holy word as found in Psalm 138:8 The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever.
