Lloyd died peacefully, with his loving daughter, Lynda Jo Russo at his side. A Veteran of WWII Lloyd served from 1942-1946 in the 650th Army Air Force Band in Presque Isle, Maine. Lloyd played drums, many years, for Big Name Bands in the San Francisco Bay Area, belonging to the Musician’s Union Local #6 for over 50 years. Lloyd retired from the California Ink Company in Berkeley, California after 42 years of service.
Lloyd was a long time member of the Church of the Presentation in Stockton, where he was an active member of the Senior Citizen’s Group. He was preceded in death by Rowena Smrstik, his beloved wife of 23 years, brother’s Albert Smrstik, George Smrstik and sister Theresa Smrstik. Survived by his sister Louise (Bruns) Grayson of Alameda, California, Nieces and Nephews Sharon Tighe, Colleen (Ron) Ede, Patricia (David) Knight, Kevin Tighe, Barbara (Jim) Elling and John Smrstik. Also many grandnieces, grandnephews, step-nieces and step-newphews Services were held for Lloyd John Smrstik on Friday March 26, 2010 at the Church of the Presentationin Stockton, CA. The family would like to thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers. Memorials preferred to The Church of the Presentation Senior Citizen's Group or Memorial Masses for Lloyd
