Lois Ann (Hains) Unger, age 29, of Liberty, MO, died on October 15, 2011, in the presence of her loving husband surrounded by family and friends.
Lois was born in Marshall, MO on March 20, 1982 to Leland and Roberta Hains. She married her best friend, Kaleb Unger, on July 3, 2004 whom she met while attending Truman State University where she received an undergraduate degree in English in May, 2005. She was a member of the Society of the Primroses. She completed her Masters of Library Science from Drexel University in 2009 and worked as an Assistant Head Librarian in the Mid Continent Library system, most recently at the Riverside, MO branch.
She was an active and loved member of Shoal Creek Community Church. Lover of the library system and serving the public. Lover of cats. She was an avid KC Royals fan, even when others had given up. She loved cooking and collecting cookbooks. She loved experimenting with new recipes and her husband, Kaleb, was a joyful guinea pig of those culinary creations.
Her proudest achievement was the birth of her daughter, Melody Faith, on May 21st, 2011. Melody was extremely early, born at 23 weeks gestation weighing only 13 ½ ounces and 10 ½ inches long. Melody spent 136 days in the NICU, just coming home on October 4th.
Lois is survived by her husband of 7 years, Kaleb Unger, and her 4 ½ month old daughter, "Mighty" Melody Faith of Liberty, MO, her mother, Roberta Hains and brother Harold and wife Laura, of Marshall, MO, grandfather, Lamar Hains, of Malta Bend, MO, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Betty Hains, her father, Leland Hains, and her son, Daniel James Unger.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held on Wednesday, October 19th, at 6:30 pm at the Shoal Creek Community Church located at 6816 S. Church Road, Pleasant Valley, MO 64068. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to www.mightymelodyfund.com.
