Lois Forward Buchanan, our dear mother, grandmother, great gran, sister and aunt, age 90, passed away at her home in Holladay on June 13, 2010.

Lois was born October 28, 1919 in Cwmavon, South Wales, the first child of Edwin Forward and Sarah Allen. She was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized August 13, 1938. She served a full-time six month LDS British Mission during WW II from February to August, 1941.

On September 23, 1944 Lois married her sweetheart, William Lyons Buchanan. Their dream was to live and raise their family in America. They emigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah in December 1947, arriving on Christmas Day. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple August 18, 1948. Lois served faithfully in the church throughout her life. She served a genealogy mission with her husband.

Lois was devoted to her husband and family and served them lovingly. She found joy in serving others, studying the scriptures, knitting, baking, gardening and making her home a piece of heaven on earth.

Lois will be lovingly remembered by her children: Laraine (Jeff) Cain, Paul (Becki), Edwin (Debbie), Jayne (Durell) Dibb, Ruth (Mel) Cisneros, and daughter-in-law Kathy Buchanan. Twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren, sisters Ellen (Jack) Williams, Megan Cordery, Betty Miles, brothers Wilfred and Colin (Sylvia) Forward, caring in-laws, Frederick S. (Rama) Buchanan, Enid, Iris and Sadie Forward. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, parents, son Stuart, grandson Sage and brothers Allen, Gordon and Malcolm Forward.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Holladay 3rd Ward, 4568 South Holladay Blvd. A viewing will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary 4670 S. Highland Drive from 6-8 p.m. Interment: Holladay Memorial Park.
