Lois Jean Naugle, a longtime resident of the Spike Island section of Moosic, died suddenly Thursday morning after a brief illness. She is survived by her beloved husband, Duane Naugle, Sr. Wed on August 25, 1962, the couple were married for 49 years. Born in Scranton on May 19, 1943, daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret McDermott VanLuvender, Lois was a graduate of the former Moosic High School, Class of 1960. As a homemaker, she held several jobs, however one of which was close to her heart - working at Rocky Glen Park and Ghost Town at the Glen. An avid gardener, she always went out of her way to feed the neighborhood rabbit and her favorite hobby was walking her dog, Reily. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and best friend, she will forever be missed and never be forgotten. She is also survived by her son, Duane Naugle, Jr., and wife Delaina of Blossburg, and her daughter, Lori Naugle-Norris and husband Anthony of Moosic; her brothers, James VanLuvender and wife Janet of Moosic and Robert VanLuvender and wife Maryann of Duryea; four grandchildren, Caitlin Naugle of Durham, North Carolina, Meira Naugle of Blossburg, Anthony and Addisyn Norris of Moosic; nieces, Heather Ann Carnathan, Nicole VanLuvender and Dawn Latona; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday at 11:00AM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge. Interment will follow at Marcy Cemetery in Duryea. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 2-4:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois' name to the charity of the donor's choice.
