Lola Faye Martin Richmond, 93, of Shady Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
Born October 26, 1918 at Garden Ground, WV; she was a daughter of the late Willard Jackson Martin and the late Hatti Rippley Gwinn Martin.
Lola liked working in her garden and singing; but most of all loved playing with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel Richmond; a daughter, Judy Richmond; a granddaughter, Alisha Sluss; a sister, Chloe Bragg; and six brothers, Theodore Martin and wife, Helen, Lewis, Delmar, Arnold, Franklin, and Russell Martin; and son-in-law, Michael Corey.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving son, Norvelle Richmond of Atlanta, GA; four daughters, Nellie Sluss and husband, Johnnie of Shady Spring, Nancy Lilly and husband, Larry of Cool Ridge, Martha Miller of Richmond, VA, and Mary Corey of Daytona Beach, FL; ten grandchildren, Joseph, John, David, Katrina, Treasa, Donna, Amanda, Rachael, Susan, and Katie; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00PM Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Following the services Lola will be laid to rest at the Sluss Family Cemetery, Cool Ridge.
Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
