Lorenz F. "Larry" Oles, 66, of Saint Joseph, passed away January 20, 2012, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Burial will follow at the Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville, MI. Visitation will be from 2-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Renovation Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Lorenz was born August 23, 1945 in St. Joseph, MI to Joseph and Nelda C. (Engler) Oles. Lorenz was a lifetime resident of St. Joseph, graduating high school with the class of 1964. He started working at Whirlpool after graduation, and retired in 2001, after 36 years as a machinist. Lorenz was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He enjoyed maintaining a lush lawn and beautiful flower gardens. Some of his other interests included sports, of which he was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.

Lorenz is survived by his siblings, Virginia F. (Edward) Banish, Joseph E. (Garnette) Oles both of Berrien Springs, MI, Vincent C. (Linda) Oles, Sr., of Eau Claire, MI, Ann L. (Drayton Jr.) Fults of Houston, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorenz was preceded in death by his parents.
