Brattleboro- Loretta Kulmus, 74, a resident of Arbor Hill Commons, died Sunday afternoon, September 25, 2011 at home, after a long illness. Miss Kulmus was born in New York City on March 7, 1937, the daughter of Otto and Frida Kulmus, both deceased. She was raised in Brattleboro and was a graduate of St. Michael's High School and Massachusetts General School of Nursing. She worked in Massachusetts, Detroit and New York City, and finished her career as an RN at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Her leisure time interests included knitting and traveling. She used her knitting talents for many years to support the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Brattleboro. Miss Kulmus was a longtime parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include her sisters, Luise May of Washington, DC and Carol Muller and her husband George of San Jose, CA; her nieces, Katherine Anderson of Herndon, VA and Aileen May of Washington, DC; her nephews, Lawrence May of Washington, DC, Matthew Muller and wife Christina of Fremont, CA, Stephen Muller and wife Laura of Santa Clara, CA and Paul Muller of San Jose, CA; and five great nieces and nephews. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 3:30 P.M. as Saint Michael's Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Richard O'Donnell, V.F. Pastor, celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Saint Michael's Parish Cemetery. There are no calling hours at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Miss Kulmus' name may be made to St. Michael's School, 48 Walnut Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301 attn: Elaine Beam, principal, or to Rescue Inc., P.O.
