Lorin Robert Hawkins, 73 years old, passed away on December 10, 2010 in Draper, Utah. He was born on July 17, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Eugene Hawkins and Effie Labram. He was raised in Murray and attended Murray High School where he excelled in sports. He took state in Football, Track and Baseball and played varsity basketball. He later attended the University of Utah on a football scholarship. On June 28, 1958 he married Evelyn Schoenfeld. He worked for the Department of Transportation for 38 years as an engineer. He loved to travel, hunt, shoot trap and hike. He was well known as an AKC judge. He and Evelyn raised, and showed German Shepherd dogs and had 15 champions. He thoroughly enjoyed life, family and hobbies. He was foremost a great and devoted husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him every day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; son, Brandon James Hawkins; daughter, Lori Allison Hawkins; and 5 grandchildren: Ashley Whipple, Nicholle Hawkins, Emma Hawkins, Micah Hawkins and Julianne Peck.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 15, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will immediately follow services.
