Lorraine E. Varvil, 95, of 1600 Mill Creek Court, Marquette, passed away Monday evening, May 23, 2011 at her apartment at Mill Creek Assisted Living with her family at her side and in the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. Mrs. Varvil was born on April 14, 1916 in Florence, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late George L. and Elizabeth (Meyers) Grimord. Lorraine and her late husband, Floyd, owned and operated the former Hamburger Heaven restaurant in Marquette for 27 years. She was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church as well as its altar society. Survivors include two children, Wayne (Sharon) Varvil of Marquette and Delva Jean (Charles) Reavy of South Haven, MI; also 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Floyd Varvil on September 21, 1986; one grandson, Christopher Reavy and a brother, Lloyd Grimord. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher's Catholic Church on Monday, June 13th at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Lorraine's family will greet relatives and friends at a luncheon to take place in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Burial will take place in Brietung Township Cemetery in Quinnesec, Michigan. Memorials are preferred to St. Christopher's Altar Society, 2372 Badger St., Marquette, MI 49855 in Lorraine's memory.
