Lou Ellen (Rainey) Slaton 60, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2009, at her daughter's home. Lou Ellen was a nurses aide at Gertha's Nursing Home and a bartender at The Wheel, The Show Bar, Chances-R, and Peerless II. She was of the Pentecostal faith, loved music and preparing cd's compilations for her work. Lou Ellen was full of life and was happiest when she was with family and friends. She welcomed people into her life with open arms and will be missed greatly by those who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William Slaton, Sr.; mother, Mildred (Stephens) Rainey; daughters, Virginia Grooms and Carrie Egan, both of Evansville, IN; sons, David Slaton, of Mt. Vernon, IN; William Slaton, Jr., and James Slaton, both of Evansville, IN; Grandchildren, Krista Wright, Adrian Rohlman, Ashley Egan, Heavenly Sisk, Aron Sisk and Isac Egan; one great-grandson, Amarie McGlown; brothers, Matt Rainey, Carl Rainey and Revis Rainey; and sisters, Kathy MacIntire, Sherry Rainey, Mary Phillips and Lisa Phillips. She is preceded in death by her father, Carl Rainey. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Avenue, Evansville, 47710. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel with Reverend Ken Raymes officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Gentryville, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
