Mrs. Louise Cooke Harrill, 89 formerly of Hawthorne Lane, Gastonia, died Friday January 22, 2010 at her residence of Grace Ridge in Morganton, NC. She was a native of Boone, NC and the daughter of the late Joseph Norris and Bessie Norris Cooke. Mrs. Harrill graduated from Appalachian State University and received her degree in Early Childhood Education. She was an elementary school teacher in the Gaston County School System for over 30 years and was active with the NC Teachers' Association. She was a devoted wife and mother of two sons who loved her very much. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Gastonia. She loved to play bridge with her friends in Gastonia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ray B. Harrill, Sr., sister, Elizabeth Owens and brothers, Council and Edgar Cooke. She is survived by sons Joseph Harvey and Sharon Harrill of Myrtle Beach, SC, R. Baxter Jr. and Nancy Harrill of Gastonia, NC; grandson, Jonathan P. Harrill and wife Erin and great grandson Chase Harrill, of Solana Beach, CA; granddaughter, Tiffany Martin and husband David of Charlotte, NC and great grandson, Marshall Martin; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, Tuesday, January 26, 2009 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. A graveside service will be held 2pm, Tuesday, at Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. J. Houston Matthews officiating.
