Lucille G. Chartier, 95, formerly of 351 W. Park St., Marquette, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 17, 2011at the home of her daughter with her loving family at her side and in the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. Mrs. Chartier was born on September 19, 1915 in Detroit, a daughter of the late Charles P. and Mabel (Belhumer) Croisetiere. She was a graduate of Graveraet High School and while in high school, she met and interviewed Amelia Earhart and even got her autograph. Lucille taught kindergarten at St. Michael's Catholic School for many years. She was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church, was very active in the Third Order of St. Francis, was a former Regent of the Daughters of Isabella and was a former president of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. A loving and proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother who enjoyed raising her family more than anything else, Lucille is survived by two daughters, Marlene Grange and Diane (Dennis) Duquette, both of Marquette; nine grandchildren, Lori (Len) Mercier, Joe Grange, Steve (Geri) Duquette, Cindy (Royce) Suba, Michelle (Damian) Fortunato, Mike (Camillo) Grange, Donald (Tammy) Duquette, George (Julie) Duquette, and Nikki (Brian) Durand; 17 great grandchildren, Courtney (Jason) Beecher, Bambi (Luke) Swetich, Anthony Fortunato, Alycia Grange, Samantha Fortunato, Cody Reyes-Grange, Danielle (Brendon) Walker, Michael Grange, Venessa Fortunato, Alex Mutch, Nathan Mutch, Paige Durand, Makayla Grange, Mariah Grange, Casey Durand, Ryder Suba, and Katie Duquette, four great, great grandchildren, Austin, Lucas and Lilly Swetich, Landon Scroggins, and three more expected this summer; a sister-in-law, Susie Croisetiere of Sacramento, CA; also many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Simon J. Chartier; a brother, Paul Croisetiere and a sister, Elva LaBonte. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 12 noon at St. Christopher's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George, Don Duquette and Steve Duquette, Leonard Mercier, Mike and Joe Grange, Brian Durand, Damian Fortunato, and Royce Suba.
