Lucille Evangeline Lee Lowry, died 1:30 a.m. on November 20 at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. Mrs. Lowry graduated from Harbargers’ Business School. She was employed by the State of North Carolina for many years. She held positions with State College, Text Book Commission and retired from The North Carolina Research Station in Clayton. The love she felt for her God, church, family and friends was evident to all who know her. She loved poetry and music. She composed many poems for enjoyment of friends. Attending concerts by Emile Pandolfi was a high light in her life.
Mrs. Lowry was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Burton Lowry, a son, Charles Burton Lowry, Jr, brothers, Richard R. Lee and John Daniel Lee, and her parents, Julius B. and Nellie P. Lee.
She is survived by her sister, Lillian L. McGirt of Carolina Beach, nephew, James L. McGirt and wife, Susan of Carolina Beach, special friends, Vicki O’Neal of Sims and Loomis Woodard of Clayton.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 23 at 11:00 at Baptist Center Church. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 to 11:00 at the church with service to follow.
