MISSOULA - LuVerne H. Jensen, 86, of Missoula, died of natural causes on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Community Medical Center.
She was born November. 24, 1922, at Stephen, Minn., to Joe Clark Sr. and Nancy Lyons Clark.
She was educated at Moorhead State Teachers’ College in Moorhead, Minn.
Lu married Morris Jensen on June 25, 1944.
She was a teacher in Minnesota and North Dakota for many years then became the executive director of American Red Cross in Grand Forks, N.D.
Lu was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, a Sunday school teacher, and a choir member. She was a volunteer with RSVP in Missoula and with the Tuesday Ladies Club in Cordes Lakes, Ariz. She enjoyed crocheting, card playing, oil painting, crossword puzzles, traveling, reading and Osprey baseball.
Lu was preceded in death by her parents; husband Morris; son William; grandson Tim Johnson; brother Joe Clark Jr.; and sister Doris Clark.
Survivors are son Leslie (Sandi) of Cordes Lakes, Ariz.; daughters Nancy (Dennis) Johnson of Dickinson, N.D., Meridith Fodera of New Egypt, N.J. and Linda of Missoula; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
We thank the staff at Community Hospital for their compassionate care of our mother.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Clark Fork Riverside, 301 W. Front St. in Missoula, with Rev. Daniel Disch officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Missoula Aging Services, 337 Stephens Ave., Missoula MT 59801, or to the charity of their choice.
