Dr. Lyle Jordan Millan Jr., 78, a resident of Annapolis for the past 27 years and previously of Baltimore, died September 29 at home due to cancer after a two-week illness.
He was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Baltimore, to Eileen D. Millan and the late Dr. Lyle Jordan Millan Sr., and received his education at City College Loyola before attending St. Andrews in 1961. He later completed his residency at the University of Maryland from 1961 to 1965. He was an anesthesiologist employed with St. Agnes, Mercy and Baltimore Washington Medical Center (formerly North Arundel) before retiring in 1992. Dr. Millan was licensed in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
He was a member of St. Margaret's Church, Annapolis Yacht Club, Annapolitan Club, United States Power Squadrons, Pleximeter and the Wiltondale Gun Club as well as Master Mason on Security Lodge 181. His hobbies included boating, hunting and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lane Millan of Annapolis, whom he married in 1984; former spouse, Ann Millan; two sons, Lyle Jordan Millan V of Bowie and James Fitting Heinz of Woodbine; three daughters, Elizabeth Lyle Millan of Annapolis, Ann Sheridan Worthington Millan of Pasadena and Krista Lynn Heinz of Washington, DC; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7 at St. Margaret's Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Road, Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret's Church.
