Graveside services for Lynn Calaway Holmes, Jr., 64, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Newman Cemetery with Brother Ricky Carrell and Brother Simon Purvis officiating.
Mr. Holmes was born July 6, 1946 in Livingston, Texas to the late (Ann) Rosa Vetress (Harwood) and Lynn Calaway Holmes, Sr., and died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in the Hospice in the Pines inpatient facility.
Mr. Holmes grew up in Nacogdoches and had resided in Lufkin for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Private Investigator. Mr. Holmes loved horses, traveling to the Hill Country with his wife, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Word of Life Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Neva Holmes of Lufkin; daughter, Nicole Holmes of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl and Kelly Daniel of Chireno and Dale and Jennifer Daniel of Beaumont; grandchildren, Charles Pierce, Jacklyn Pierce, Joshua Williams, Ashley Williams, Anna Daniel, Jace Williams, Reyna Moss, Lucas Daniel and Morgan Daniel; brother and sister-in-law, Gregg and Sammie Holmes of Nacogdoches; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Buddy and Susie Jordan of Lufkin and Dale and Lavera Frost of Nacogdoches; a number of nieces and nephews; and numerous lifelong friends, including Gene Havard.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Tucker, Gregg C. and Dean Holmes and grandsons, Charles Pierce, Josh Williams, Jace Williams and Lucas Daniel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 South Raguet Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
