Lynn Robert Jacobson, 84, Bismarck, formerly of Oakes, North Dakota, died December 17, 2004, at a Bismarck care center.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 9 AM - 9 PM and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lynn was born on August 11, 1920, in Fullerton, North Dakota, the son of Chris and Marie (Frovick) Jacobson. He attended schools in Fullerton and Oakes and graduated from Oakes High School. In 1942, Lynn enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas, California, and Guam. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
On August 25, 1943, he married Ethel Carlson in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1950, they made their home in Oakes, North Dakota. In 1963, he began working for Melroe as a truck driver. Lynn was one of Melroe's first employees to receive the Million Mile Accident Free Award.
In 1973, Lynn and Ethel moved to Bismarck. Following his retirement from Melroe in 1982, Lynn drove charter bus for Harlow Bus Service and the shuttle van for the Eye Clinic of North Dakota.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel of Bismarck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Daryl Sonnenberg of Pinedale, Wyoming, and Lynette and Mark Stenerson of Bismarck; one son and two daughters-in-law, Dennis and Sandy Jacobson of Oakes, and Judy Jacobson of Oakes; two sisters, Marjorie Raessler of Visalia, California, and Shirley Davis of Kansas City, Missouri; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Darryl; his brother, Kenneth; his sister, Elayne Jacobson; and his daughter-in-law, Julie Jacobson.
