Lynn Lee Ketterling, 60, Bismarck, passed peacefully in the presence of family members on February 11, 2009, at St. Alexius Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 16, at Century Baptist Church, 205 Colt Avenue, Bismarck, with Rev. Gordon Stork and Rev. Alan Steier officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 – 9:00 PM and Sunday from 3:00 – 9:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lynn was born on January 2, 1949, in Kulm, ND, the son of Leo and Leona (Koepplin) Ketterling. He was raised and educated in Lehr and graduated from Valley City State College. On December 28, 1968, Lynn and Debra Weixel were united in marriage in Jud, ND, and were blessed with two wonderful sons. Lynn and Debi recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Lynn worked as a teacher and coach over the years. The last few years were spent at Richardton-Taylor High School, United Tribes Technical College, and Napoleon High School.

Lynn took great pride in his sons and grandchildren, attending their activities and sharing his love of hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed pheasant hunting with his sons, grandson, and Duke. Lynn looked forward to preparing the camper for weekend getaways to the lake, spending time relaxing with his family on the water, fishing, and eating burnt roasted marshmallows around the campfire. A special time for Lynn was having the family together for a meal of ham and dumplings.

Left with wonderful memories of a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, and uncle, are his wife, Debra; his sons, Darin (Julie) Ketterling and Dustin (Rachael) Ketterling, all of Bismarck; his grandchildren, Amanda, Austin, and Tyler Ketterling and another grandchild due in March; his brother, Lyle (Joyce) Ketterling of Rapid City, SD; his sisters, Linda (Robert) Woehl of Wishek, and Lynette (Thom Warren) Ketterling of Salem, OR; and his nieces and nephews.

Lynn joins in heaven his parents, Leo and Leona; his stepfather, Paul Meidinger; and his grandparents.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all of his family, relatives, and friends.
