Lynn Diane Service, 59, a resident of Georgetown, Texas and a former longtime resident of Bettendorf passed away Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 at 3:14 PM, with her husband and two daughters by her side.
She was born April 1, 1952 in West Union, Iowa, the first daughter of Robert and Diane (Schatz) Johnston. Lynn graduated from North Fayette High School. She attended Coe College
where she obtained her Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology, and went on to the University of Iowa where she graduated with a Master's Degree in Social Work. She was employed for 25 years at Vera French in Davenport, Iowa where she was a program manager who worked dutifully
for the clients of the mental health clinic.
Lynn loved being with family, friends, and her cock-a-poo, Bailey. She enjoyed spending time cooking, entertaining, and playing euchre and scrabble. She had an incredible flair for interior decorating and most enjoyed spending time at home.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Kent Service; two daughters, Stephanie Service, Austin, TX and Katie Service, Rochester, NY; her father, Robert Johnston, West Union, IA; two
brothers, Bob Johnston and wife, Beth, Long Grove, IA, and Brad Johnston and wife, Susan, Troy, Ohio; a sister, Ann Beaudoin and husband, Paul, Bellevue, WA, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6th at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 –7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7th at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, 1200 Middle Road, Bettendorf, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will go to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
