Age 84, long time resident died unexpectedly Sunday, November 6, 2011. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou in 2000. Mac is survived by his daughters, Sandra Baca and husband, Joel, and Loretta Garcia and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Kelsey Garcia, and Ryan Garcia, fiancée Leah Lucero and daughter, Gwen Garcia; sister, Evelia Griego and husband, David all of Albuquerque, NM. He was a successful painting and general contractor state wide for 38 years. Mac built, owned and leased commercial buildings in the metro area for many years. His life long hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycling, welding and maintaining his rental properties. Mac was a proud Democrat and loyal member of the Annunciation Parish. He was a devoted husband, father, and "Pompa" to his grandchildren and great-granddaughter as well as kind and generous to those he befriended. Mac will be greatly missed by all his family, friends, and those who crossed his path. No one was a stranger to Mac Salas! Friends and family may visit French - Lomas Chapel Friday, November 11, 2011 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited Saturday, November 12, 2011, 9:30 a.m., Mass will be celebrated immediately after the Rosary at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 2532 Vermont NE, with Monsignor Raun officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mac would appreciate donations be made to the Road Runner Food Bank, 5840 Office Blvd. NE, 87109-5819.
