Madeline Buchanan, 83 of Beckley passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 following a short illness.
Born June 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William and Julie Ratcliff Blevins.
Madeline loved riding in helicopters and 18 wheelers. She enjoyed bowling, miniature golf and traveling all over the country including Canada. Madeline was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Norman Buchanan, Sr. Madeline was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bennie Buchanan and wife Rhonda of Georgia, Norman Buchanan, Jr. and wife Margaret of Beckley, Rayburn Buchanan of Beckley and Flint David Buchanan and wife Teresa of Beckley; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Madeline was a loving mother that will be missed by all that knew her.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
