Madge G. Hammer, 92, of Kansas City North, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Madge was born and raised in Nashua Missouri where she met and married Lucien J. (Jack) Hammer on December 31, 1939. She worked at Cooley Elementary School as a secretary-some saying she "ran the school". Madge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother "GG". Her family was her life and Hammer tacos were her specialty and loved by all. Madge was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Byrdena Golden; husband Jack of 45 years who retired from TWA; son, Joe Mac Hammer; grandson, Bryan Joe Hammer and granddaughter, Shelley (Davies) Lapin. Madge is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Annette and John Davies; daughter-in-law, Janice Hammer; granddaughters, Jonette Wren and husband Lloyd and Beth Welch and husband Steve; grand son-in-law, Todd Lapin and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1-2 pm on Sunday, December 11 with a chapel service to follow at 2pm at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway #300, Kansas City, MO 64114; Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; Juvenile Diabetic Association or the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City, 2205 Iron Street, North Kansas City, MO 64116.
